World University of Design Joins Hand with Adobe to Launch ‘Adobe Digital Technology Academy’ on Campus

World University of Design (WUD), a UGC recognized university and India’s first and only University dedicated to education in the creative domain has entered into a strategic tie-up with Adobe, a global leader in Digital Education, to launch the ‘Adobe Digital Technology Academy’ at its campus. The academy will impart new age digital creativity skills to the students at WUD in order to enhance their employability prospects as per the demands of the industry today.

The Adobe Digital Technology Academy will aim to foster digital creativity skills of the students across various WUD schools, in sync with India’s Skill India and Digital India mission. The program is designed by Adobe in consultation with industry leaders with focus on practical hands on training in a live-environment leading to jobs / entrepreneurship. More than 500 students will stand to benefit from the academy every year.

Speaking on the new collaboration Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Vice Chancellor, World University of Design said, “I am grateful to Adobe for giving WUD this unique opportunity. The Digital era has signaled a significant change and transformation in the hiring needs of the employers creating a gap between industry requirements and academics. With industry automation, industry leaders are driving large scale technological innovations globally using digital technology, thereby creating a need for students to get trained in Digital Skills. With the establishment of the Adobe Digital Technology Academy, WUD endeavors to build a generation of digitally proficient creative professional designers ready to meet the emerging demands of the industry.”

For Adobe India, such centre gives them an opportunity to collaborate across industry and academia. According to the recent Creative Pulse survey conducted by Adobe, creative professionals in India are today driving a bigger impact within their organizations. Creativity is fast becoming an important part of technical education as well as other job roles including graphic designers, UX/UI designers, web designers, photographers and filmmakers. This has led to the development of the new concept of Design Innovation Creativity led Entrepreneurship (DICE) having a positive impact on the skill development of workforce in India. Adobe India is happy to partner with the prestigious World University of Design to establish ‘Adobe Digital Technology Academy’.

Recently World University of Design has announced strategic partnership with Six Reputed International Universities across UK, Canada and France, including Universities of Huddersfield, Oxford Brookes and, West of Scotland in UK, Emily Carr University of Art & Design and Vancouver Film School in Canada and École Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Industries Textiles (ENSAIT) in France. The MOUs will provide international exposure and abundant opportunities to all students as a quintessential part of education at WUD and covers the departments of fashion design, industrial design, product design, interior design, communication design, visual arts, and architecture and design management.

According to The Future of Design Education in India Report by 2020, the potential market for design in India is expected to beINR 188.32 billion (GBP1.43 billion). The number of designers required by2020 across design domains will be 62,000, provided the design potential is fullyrealized. Currently there are approximately 7,000 qualified designers in the country.
