When it comes to figures, I think that the growth will increase by 200%

The brand Simmtronics has already established its leadership position when it comes for Memory Module and Motherboard. The company not only lead in these component business but also manufacture these products in its own manufacturing plant. Now a days, we are well aware that they have also roped into Tablet business. They were already making Tablets for few of the leading brand in India. IndrajitSabharwal, Managing Director, Simmtronics Semiconductors Ltd. talks to Digital Terminal on his take to enter into tablet business as well his strategy to conquer this segment too.

Digital Terminal: How do you see tablet market growth by end of year 2013?

Indrajit Sabharwal: Tablet growth has exploded at a rapid pace, outpacing even Smartphone growth. Since its introduction into the market and until now, XPAD shipments have ramped up, thus I feel that the tablet growth will take a hyperbolic graph. When it comes to figures I think that the growth will increase by 200%.Small, lightweight tablets will drive most of the growth in the computing hardware market this year,I think that sales of tablets will rise and this can affect the sale of the tablets.

DT: Do you think that current dollar appreciation will affect industry?

DT: What is your projection for Simmtronics XPAD Tablet currently?

IS:A Tablet PC, or simply Tablet, is a complete mobile computer, currently we have a projection of one million units, and in future also we are planning to influx the market with various new products,and increasing the projection of the current products.

DT: What are the latest buying trends for tablet among Indian consumers?

IS: Nowadays a major trend is social networking, the youth is totally engrossed in social networking, from shopping to mobile recharge, the youth is totally dependent on technology. Technology and youth are symbiotically inclined. They make use of Google books; they can watch movies, play games, create their blog, shopping and the list is endless. It will be worth focusing on the fact whether Google wants to focus on android or chrome books in the enterprise. Last but not the least Enterprises will slow laptop replacement schedules to accommodate the costs of supporting tablets, even if they’re employee-owned.

DT: What are the upcoming announcements for XPAD product range? What are your target segments?

DT: What will be your go-to-market strategy for next six months?

IS: We’ll be going for above the line communication including television and Print campaign, earlier also we were focusing on the same but now surely the focus is much more targeted.

DT: What is your strategy to engage more partners in selling your tabs?

IS: We are panning for Channel meets and new campaigns, currently the focus for us is not to get establish Simmtronics as a brand, now our interest lies in the branding of its new products. We wish to bring customization, innovation, make cordial ties with our target audience and understand the need of the users, the market is huge and we have already established our identity, thus the current focus is to create an aided-recall among the users about our new introductions.

DT: What about all other products? Why you have shifted your focus from your core products to Tablet in terms of promotion and investment?

IS: Since all our products are B2B we are focusing more on building our consumer brand ie XPAD for tabs and Smartphone’s as we see this as the future. In order to keep the momentum going, we wish to expand our services, Apart from that we would like to say that we have not shifted our focus; rather we have just broadened our focus.
