We will Strengthen the Personal Cloud Category of Nas-Enabled Storage

In 2016 Western Digital has further strengthened its commitment towards enterprise, consumer, and prosumers solutions with the recent launches.

It started right from the redesigned My Passport and My Book series devices for everyday consumers to make a connection between each device and its user. In the NAS segment, Khwaja Saifuddin, Senior Sales Director – South Asia, Middle and Africa, Western Digital tells more.

DT: - What’s your roadmap or strategy for the year 2017?

A: - We hope the personal cloud category of NAS-enabled storage sees more growth and adoption in the future. We have storage solutions that are completely customized to cater to this segment. Also, gaming and animation vertical is set for expansion especially in South India because of existing IT infrastructure, and we believe it to be a major growth market for us. Furthermore, initiatives like Digital India and Smart Cities have brought to the forefront an array of concerns, the primary being the need for a robust security infrastructure.

The latest offering from the WD brand’s portfolio is WD Blue SSD, WD Black SSD and WD Green SSD for Indian market for upgraded storage for high end performance.

DT: - How does your company support the Digital India program?

A: - We are providing our surveillance storage WD Purple solution to many Smart City projects across India which is the cornerstone of Digital India. WD Purple drives are purpose built and tested for surveillance systems. An increased focus on security, both at personal and national level is leading to a surge in demand for surveillance drives, this is where we see the potential to further build on our category of WD Purple products.

DT: - What are the technology trends that you see in 2017?        

A: - IoT and big data are some of the new mega-trends that are aiding the introduction of innovative products/ solutions in the industry. We believe the year ahead will help start a transformation with considerable deployments in network, data, storage and analytics. We are fostering innovation by engaging with early adopters to create next generation products for emerging markets.

DT: - What have been the key highlights of your company during the year 2016?

A: - 2016 has been exciting; Western Digital has further strengthened its commitment towards enterprise, consumer, and prosumers solutions with the recent launches in 2016. It started right from the redesigned My Passport and My Book series devices for everyday consumers to make a connection between each device and its user. In the NAS segment, My Cloud EX2 Ultra, a high-performance, two-bay network attached storage (NAS) system designed for creative professionals and prosumers that need to automatically sync content across computers, easily share files and folders and enjoy multiple backup options so they can create their own personalized digital library with ease. We have also introduced the upgraded My Cloud Pro series devices with the PR2100 and PR4100 launches which offers SMBs the network storage to edit, save and share production files from anywhere with an internet connection.  Beyond offering a large range of really innovative and great-quality products, we stand by our products and consumers with top-notch after sales service and warranty support across India. We also provide WD Express; a door to door service that ensures that in case a customer’s WD brand product has to be replaced, it is easy to do so.
