Taiwan Expo 2018 Successfully Inaugurated in New Delhi

The first ever ‘Taiwan Expo 2018’ kick-started in the Indian capital, New Delhi today with a gala opening ceremony.

The event that is taking place at Pragati Maidan saw attendance of who’s who of the Indian and Taiwanese business world including Mr. Chung- Kwang Tien, Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center (TECC) in India, Shri Meenakshi Lekhi, Member Of Parliament, Harish Meena, Member of Parliament ,Mr. Som Mittal, Chairman, Electronics and White Goods Manufacturing Committee of Federation of India Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Mr. L C Goyal, Chairman and Managing Director, India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) and host of other respected delegates & dignitaries.

Talking about the Taiwan Expo 2018, Mr. James C.F. Huang, the Chairman of TAITRA, shares, “On behalf of TAITRA, I welcome all the VIPs, dignitaries, visitors and media representatives who are here to be a part of such an important occasion that will bring India and Taiwan closer. I see a great synergy between both the countries in terms of business relations and people to people contact. Today is a symbolic day as it marks the beginning of a new chapter that will go a long way in the strengthening of trade and cultural ties between Taiwan and India. India is prime to become the economic superpower of the 21st Century. The world’s 6th largest economy, India is home to vast numbers of institutions, R&D centers, and tech-oriented manpower. It is advancing toward a US$5 trillion economy by 2025 and will be the world’s 3rd largest consumer market by 2025. Taiwan and India have also developed close relations in recent years, particularly with respect to trade. As of December 2017, the accumulative investment amount from Taiwan into India reached US$355 million. Similarly, our bilateral trade volume reached US$6.3. billion in 2017, making Taiwan India’s 18th largest trade partner.”

Sharing further about India market he said, “India market has huge potential which is yet to be explored by Taiwan Business community. This special event gives an opportunity to business leaders from both the countries to exchange ideas and share expertise. The growing Indian economy and the know-how of Taiwan in the fields like electronics, green products and medical make both the countries natural partners. I am confident all the exhibitors will be able to make new business contacts while visitors will get to know what makes our products and services unique and special”.

The opening ceremony also showcased a special and unique animation created by Taiwan based ACE Optoelectronics Creation.

Ms. Meenakshi Lekhi, Member of Parliament graced the event and said, "India and Taiwan will go forward in the area of trade and commerce. Good friendship always bring good business, Taiwan has good quality practitioners and India has good quality  mathematicians, both countries coming together can produce best of the products in which ever field we chose to.

Post-event, the delegates, and VIPs visited all the stalls at the Expo and also interacted with media personnel.

The exhibition has eight themed pavilions - Meet Taiwan, Taiwan EV Alliance, Taiwan Food Processing Machinery, Taiwan Green Products, Taiwan Healthcare, Taiwan Tourism, Taiwan Excellence and Taiwan Smart City. The exhibit areas include agriculture & food, EV, Auto parts & Fasteners, Home Products, ICT & Green Products, Mandarin education & business services, Medical Devices, Health & personal care, Sports & Outdoor and Textiles. Participating companies from Taiwan are showcasing Taiwan’s latest technologies, eco-friendly products and industrial prowess. 

There are 130 exhibitors and 230 booths at the expo, displaying the best of the products for the Indian market.

To encourage the Taiwan Expo 2018, Mumbai Indian team members will also be visiting the expo at Pragati Maidan during the expo days.

A seminar on ‘Taiwan Smart Industry Trend’, which was attended by Indian buyers and delegates from FICCI was also organized on the sidelines of the expo. In the coming days, there will be also seminars on the topics like Taiwan Smart Industry Trend, Smart Medical Innovation - Total Solution for Healthcare, India-Taiwan EV Forum apart from others.

The expo is taking place on 17th to 18th May 2018 (10.00 hrs to 18.00 hrs) and 19th May 2018 (10.00 hrs to 14.00 hrs). The entry is free for all.
